Summing up all the action at the 2018 Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE).
What is considered to be the first major step on the international coffee expo circuit, and is known throughout Asia Pacific as the largest and most exciting dedicated coffee event, MICE lived up to its full expectations yet again for its seventh instalment.
The highly competitive Barista Championship's showcased the art of coffee with Craig Simon, from Veneziano, claiming 1st place. Filling the platform in 2nd and 3rd positions were Anthony Douglas, from Axil Coffee Roasters, and Angus Mackie from ONA Coffee.
The best new products in the industry were displayed at the Product Innovation Awards, a competition designed to find the best products, technologies, or services that are not yet commonly used by the industry. BWT was the 2018 winner with their water filters and Detpak placed second with their Precision Series cup range.
Service Sphere considered MICE to be the perfect platform to showcase some of the newest and most innovative coffee machine technologies in the industry. Stand #139 gave centre stage to the Eversys Cameo. This ground-breaking machine with bespoke style and advanced features was demonstrated to the masses across the three day event.
Alongside the Cameo sat the LaCimbali M100 and the brand new LaCimbali Elective Grinder. These are the pinnacle of the latest generation of machines, with the Elective grinder having the capability to pair up with the machine and make calibrations when needed, receiving considerable enquiries.
MICE marked the Australian launch of the new Eureka Mignon, displayed in a variety of models and colours on the Service Sphere stand.
These new products were viewed and demonstrated to some of our valued customers and industry partners. It was also great to see some of our customer displaying at the expo such as Square One Coffee Roasters, Rumble Coffee, and Matt Perger with Barista Hustle.
Service Sphere also welcomed the BKON Craft Brewer to be displayed with expo crowds given a demonstration of this new equipment's potential and wide-varying functions. Displayed by BKON representative Susan Crane, MICE attendees got to experience the infused teas and water available.
